If you think a walk in the park in winter sounds a bit mundane and dreary, you haven't seen the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. This glittering extravaganza has been wowing the capital's visitors since 2007, and we're running some great value weekend breaks with return coach travel and 4 star overnight hotel with English breakfast, so you can see for yourself just what makes London in winter such an unforgettable experience.
There's a Bavarian–style Christmas market and fun–fair, and a sparkling fairy–tale land featuring:
The Magical Ice Kingdom – An immersive walk–through experience, with frozen giants, an ice lake and fairy forest and an ice castle where you can meet the snow queen.
Ice Skating – A timed one–hour session on the UK's largest rink, set around the Victorian bandstand and strung with 100,000 lights. Skates are provided, but be sure to wrap up warm.
Zippos Circus and Cirque Berserk – Family–friendly Zippos Circus by day, with clowns, acrobats, high–wire stunts, jugglers and a Wheel of Death. In the evening a change of mood with Cirque Berserk's show featuring death–defying stunts, daredevil aerialists and full–throttle action – a rather more adult circus experience.
Giant Wheel – Enclosed pods, 60 metres high, views for miles - you get the picture. You can even book a luxury pod for that lofty VIP experience.
Bar Ice – Arctic cocktails and drinks served in a bar completely made of ice, though you won't be cold because special winter cloaks and gloves are provided. A complimentary drink is included with the ticket.
The Park is open between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. and you can wander round for free. Many of the special attractions are ticket–only and timed–entry, and evening and weekend tickets tend to sell out quickly, so to guarantee places and fast–track entry you're advised to book in advance at www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com
